Page 1 of 4 Research Overview In this section you will find links to research papers, overviews of the findings, a description of how the findings relate to autism, and in some cases, a critical look at the methods used to help determine how much certainty can be placed on the results. If we have read the entire paper, it will be noted; otherwise you should assume that only the abstract has been read, with a corresponding impact on the depth of the analysis. The research area is broken up into several sections, though some articles may actually have ramifications across these categorizations. Studies on clinical measurements, and the differences found between autism and controls. Studies on physiological, or behavioral changes detected after the administration of a biomedical treatment. Studies on genetic differences. Review studies that are overviews of the current scientific understanding of a particular area. Studies that have a tangential relationship to autism; usually situations with similarities in physiological findings.
In the interest of full disclosure, as of yet, none of the people involved with writing this site are medical doctors, but rather very enthusiastic parents who have spent a lot of time reading. If you are only interested in taking analysis on research from doctors or professional researchers, parts of this section may not be useful to you. You might still consider printing some of the papers that you find interesting, giving them to your pediatrician and asking him or her to give you their opinion on if it has importance to your child's situation.
